Belle Isle
Belle Isle is a small island located right in the middle of Detroit River. It is an island with a large variety of plants and animals, but also with specially designed places for kids to play. There are a lot of places where you can set up a picnic. Also there are trials which can be used for hiking, biking or walking. You can also practice you fishing skills in the specially designed areas. A great thing is that absolutely every attraction around here can be tried out for free. There’s a bit of a problem with parking places, especially if you go there in weekend; the parking lot get pretty crowded.
Detroit Historical Society
By visiting this museum you’ll have the chance to learn many things about American history, but especially about the well-known American brand ‘Cadillac’. The main attraction here is represented by ‘Motor City’. There are full scale models of Cadillac cars, each one in different stages of production. But the cars are not the only attraction around here. There are separate areas which tell the story of the underground rail-road and the story of Detroit Streets. Admission to the museum is free. The schedule is: from Tuesday to Sunday between 9:30 AM and 4:30 PM. The museum is closed on Mondays.
Ford Rogue Factory Tour
I’m sure you all know about the popular car brand named ‘Ford’. Even if you don’t really like cars you should buy tickets for at least a couple of hours because there are a lot of things to see. The tour guide will tell you everything about Ford and how it impacted America. There are only certain times of the week when you can perform a factory tour, so you should double check the schedule before heading there. The ticket price for an adult is somewhere around $15. However you should specify that you want to take part to a full tour.
Detroit River Front
Detroit River Front is stretching from one side of Detroit to the other. On the river’s shore there’s a paved alley which makes it perfect for a long bicycle ride. If you don’t have a bike, during the summer you can rent one at of the renting offices along the shore’s line. The river is still used which makes the passing boats a stunning view. There are also a lot of birds which make the atmosphere even more relaxing. It is recommended to go there for a walk right before the sun set; the public illumination of the nearby fountains is also impressive.
Rouge Park Golf Course
No matter if you never played golf before and you want to learn the basics about this sport, or if you are a professional willing to show off you skills to your friends, the golf course at Rogue Park is at your disposal. This golf course dates from 1924. It has no less than 18 holes which vary in difficulty level. The greens are in excellent condition and there’s no need to fear that you’ll shatter someone’s window if your golf abilities need improvement. Overall it is the excellent way of spending time with your friends or family in a fun way.
